Top Suppliers report
Ranks your suppliers by what you buy from them. A ready-made negotiating position.
What is the Top Suppliers report?
It ranks your suppliers by how much you buy from them in a period.
Where to find it
Reports → Purchasing Reports → Top Suppliers, or /dashboard/reports/top-suppliers.
Permission: reports:top_suppliers.
Use it in negotiations
This is the report's most practical value.
Telling a supplier precisely "I bought 480,000 from you this year" puts you in a far stronger position than "we buy a lot from you".
Exact figures open the door to:
- A volume discount.
- Better payment terms.
- Priority supply when stock is short.
- Prices fixed for a period.
Check your concentration
If one supplier takes most of your purchasing, that is a risk.
Any problem at their end — a shortage, a dispute, a closure — stops your business. The report shows that concentration clearly.
If you find heavy dependence, start looking for an alternative before you need one.
Read it with other reports
| Report | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Most Purchase Returns | A large supplier whose goods keep coming back is not a good one |
| Supplier Payment Ledger | What you owe each of them |
| Most Purchased Items | Exactly what you are buying |
A routine
Open it quarterly before a round of negotiations, and annually to review your purchasing concentration.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I use it?
In negotiations. Walking into a supplier with an exact figure for what you bought from them this year puts you in a far stronger position than talking in approximations.
Is depending on one supplier risky?
Yes. If one supplier takes most of your purchasing, any problem at their end stops your business. The report shows that concentration clearly.
What should I read it with?
Most Purchase Returns and the Supplier Payment Ledger. A large supplier whose goods keep coming back is not a good supplier whatever their volume.
