Store settings: the setup wizard
Seven steps, in order. Save one and continue — or jump straight to the step you need.
What is on the store settings screen?
A setup wizard: seven steps, shown one at a time, with a stepper down the side that tells you where you are. Reach it from Commerce in the sidebar, or /dashboard/commerce.
Permissions: shop:view to look, shop:manage to change.
How the wizard works
- One step at a time. Only the step you are on is on screen, so there is nothing to scroll past.
- Save and continue. The button at the bottom saves the step you are on and moves to the next one. If you changed nothing it just says Next and moves on.
- Skip what you do not need. Shipping policy and Domains are marked Optional and have a Skip button.
- Jump around freely. Click any step in the stepper to go straight to it. You do not have to walk them in order.
- It remembers. Close the page and come back, and you return to the step you were on.
Each step in the stepper carries its state: ✓ done, ! needs attention (unsaved edits, or a domain still waiting on DNS), ⊘ skipped, or not started yet.
After setup is finished
Once every required step is done, the page turns into an overview — a grid of cards, one per step, with a progress bar reading "6 of 7 done". Click any card to reopen that step. Use Walk through every step to go back to the linear flow.
1. Store details
| Field | Editable? | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Store name | ❌ display | The recorded name |
| Shop URL name | ❌ locked after creation | Part of your address |
| Platform domain | ❌ display | Your address on the platform |
| Default language | ✅ | English or Arabic |
| Checkout mode | ✅ | Guest or login / Login required |
| Store status | ❌ display | The store's state |
| Store availability | ✅ | Enabled / Disabled |
Default language
Decides which language your store opens in at its main address. The store is built for both Arabic and English, with the alternate language reached through an explicit path.
Checkout mode
| Mode | What it means |
|---|---|
| Guest or login | Shoppers can buy without an account |
| Login required | An account is needed to complete a purchase |
Guest or login reduces friction and increases orders — usually the right choice for merchants in Egypt. Login required gives you better customer data but costs you orders.
2. Storefront branding
The browser tab title (English and Arabic), the store logo, and the browser favicon. Each image has a clear button.
3. Commerce site colours
Three colours define the look of your store:
| Colour | Controls |
|---|---|
| Primary | Buy buttons and calls to action |
| Accent | Badges and secondary elements |
| Surface | Backgrounds and cards |
Keep the primary strong and well contrasted against the surface — that is what makes "Add to cart" readable.
4. Fixed storefront content
This is where you set the homepage copy: hero slider slides, section headings (brand strip, categories, offers), the trust and support strip, the about block, the footer note, and the product-page and checkout supporting content.
This step also holds Reset template defaults, which returns the storefront content to the example values it shipped with.
5. Shipping policy — optional
A full bilingual page editor: title, summary, body, and SEO title and description. The page is linked automatically into the footer's policy links.
Write a real policy here — delivery times, which governorates you cover, charges, returns. It is one of the pages shoppers read most before buying.
This step is never saved just by moving forward — it creates a real published page, so it only saves when you press its own save button.
6. Footer
Show or hide the footer, the footer note, an About block, section headings for links and contact, contact details, a policy links list and a social links list (both add and remove), and copyright text — all bilingual.
7. Domains — optional
Your platform subdomain, and adding a custom domain of your own. That has a full page of its own.
A domain you have added but not yet verified shows the Domains step as needs attention until the DNS check passes.
Tip
Save each step and check the result on your storefront before moving to the next. Finish setup on the last step takes you to the overview.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Store enabled and publish state?
Store enabled is a switch that makes the store available or unavailable to visitors. Publish state describes how far along it is: Internal, Review or Published. The store has to be both enabled and published for shoppers to reach it.
What does checkout mode mean?
It decides whether a shopper has to sign in to complete a purchase. Guest or login allows buying without an account. Login required forces every shopper to register — fewer orders, but more customer data.
Can I change the shop URL name here?
No. The URL name and the platform subdomain are display-only after provisioning. If you want a different address, connect a custom domain from the Domains step.
Do I have to finish the whole wizard in one sitting?
No. Every step saves on its own the moment you press Save and continue, and the wizard remembers where you stopped. Shipping policy and Domains are optional and can be skipped entirely.
How do I get back to a step I already finished?
Once every required step is done the page becomes an overview of step cards. Click any card to reopen that step. You can also click any step in the stepper at any time.
