Product reviews: moderating shopper feedback
Reviews arrive for moderation before they appear. You decide what gets published.
What is the reviews screen?
A list of every shopper review on your products, where you review them and decide what to publish.
Where to find it
Commerce → Reviews, or /dashboard/commerce/reviews.
Permissions: shop_reviews:view to see, shop_reviews:manage to publish, hide and delete.
Reviews wait for your approval
A review a shopper writes does not appear on the store immediately. It arrives here first.
That means you decide what goes live — which protects you from spam and abuse.
The stats
Reviews · Published · Hidden.
The filters
| Filter | Use |
|---|---|
| Search | Within the review text |
| Status | Published / Hidden |
| Locale | Arabic / English |
| Rating | Star count |
The rating filter is the most useful for monitoring: open all the one- and two-star reviews and look for a common pattern.
The actions
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Publish | The review appears on the product page |
| Hide | Removed from the store but kept here |
| Unhide | Restores a hidden review |
| Delete | Removes it permanently |
Hide rather than delete in most cases. Hiding keeps the information and is reversible. Save deletion for spam and abuse.
Handling a negative review
The first instinct is to hide it. That is usually a mistake.
A genuine negative review is free information:
- Complaints about size or colour? The description or photos need work.
- Complaints about delays? Look at your shipping.
- Complaints about quality? Talk to your supplier.
And if you compare your negative reviews against the Most Returned Items report, you will often find the same products — which confirms where the problem is.
More importantly: a store with nothing but five-star reviews reads as fabricated. A few middling reviews build trust rather than damaging it.
Tip
Review the queue weekly. A review sitting unapproved for two weeks is wasted, and the shopper who wrote it feels ignored.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do reviews appear on the store immediately?
No. A review arrives on this screen and waits for your decision. You have to publish it for visitors to see it — so you control what appears.
What should I do with a negative review?
Do not delete it straight away. If it is a genuine complaint it is useful information — check the product, the description or the shipping. A store with nothing but five-star reviews looks fake. Save deletion for spam and abuse.
What is the difference between hiding and deleting?
Hiding removes the review from the store but keeps it on this screen so you can restore it. Deleting removes it permanently. Hide in most cases.
Can I filter by rating?
Yes. There are filters on status, locale, star rating and a text search — so you can open every one- and two-star review and look for a pattern.
