The product editor: every step on a product page
Seven steps control how a product looks on your store — from its name to a discount that runs for two hours.
What is in the product editor?
Seven steps controlling everything a shopper sees about a product. You reach it from Store Catalog → the Edit action on any product.
Permission: shop_catalog:manage.
How the steps work
A stepper across the top shows all seven steps, and only the step you are on is on screen.
- Every step is open from the start. Click any step to jump straight to it — there is no order to follow. Changing a single price does not mean walking the whole product.
- One save for everything. Save product is available on every step and commits all seven at once. Moving between steps never saves and never loses what you typed.
- Back and Next are there if you do want to walk it end to end. On the last step, Next becomes Save product.
- It remembers. Reopen a product later and you land on the step you were last using.
Each step shows its state: ✓ filled in, ! needs attention (no English name, no Arabic copy, no gallery image), ⊘ not used.
The live preview
Beside the steps sits a storefront preview — the product image, name, price with the struck-through compare-at, any running discount, and the published/disabled state. It updates as you type, so you can see the effect of a price override or a discount without saving first.
1. Storefront content
| Field | Required? | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Product name | ✅ | What shoppers see — independent of the item name |
| Slug | No | The URL segment. Generated from the name; overriding it warns you |
| Store category | No | Or "No assigned category" |
| Sort order | No | A number ordering the product within its category |
| Short description | No | Shown on product cards |
| Full description | No | Shown on the product page |
Change the slug carefully. The old URL may already be shared or indexed by Google.
2. Arabic localisation
Arabic product name, Arabic short description, Arabic full description.
Always fill these in. Arabic is the language most of your shoppers use, and a product without Arabic copy looks unfinished.
3. SEO and pricing
| Field | Details |
|---|---|
| SEO title / Arabic SEO title | The page title in search results |
| SEO description / Arabic | The snippet under the title in Google |
| Store price override | The online price, ignoring the item's sales price |
| Compare-at price | The struck-through figure — a reference only, never charged |
Leave the store price override empty if you want the store to use the item's sales price.
4. Scheduled discounts
A repeatable list of discounts that run for a set window — a couple of hours, three days, a week, or any custom period.
| Field | Details |
|---|---|
| Enable discount | A switch |
| Discount type | Percentage or Fixed amount |
| Discount value | Required and above zero · a percentage cannot exceed 100 |
| Starts at | Date and time |
| Ends at | Must be after the start |
| Price preview | Base · Discounted · Saved |
The discount applies on top of the selling price, while compare-at remains the original reference. It carries through the storefront, the cart and checkout.
5. Variants and attributes
Here you build attributes (colour, size) and their values in Arabic and English, then map each variant to a real ERP item.
That mapping matters: each variant has its own price and stock, so it needs an item behind it for availability to stay correct.
6. Gallery media
| Element | Details |
|---|---|
| Main image | Chosen from your gallery images — used on cards and the product page |
| Upload image | JPG · PNG · WEBP up to 5MB |
| Colour gallery | Images shown when a shopper picks that colour |
| Main gallery | General images not tied to a colour |
Images are stored inside Pashkateb — no external links.
Uploads and deletions stay pending until you press save. The screen marks them "Will upload when you save" or "Will be removed when you save". Leaving without saving discards them.
7. ERP link and visibility
Display only: ERP code, SKU, base ERP price, current ERP stock, assigned category.
Plus two switches:
- Enabled — a disabled product stays hidden even when published.
- Published — a published product appears on the live storefront.
Saving
The Save product button commits every step at once, including pending image uploads and removals — it sits in the page header and is available whichever step you are on. There is also a Back to catalog button.
Variants and attributes are saved as a complete set. Whatever is on the Variants step when you save replaces what was there before, so never delete a group you still need just to "save the rest".
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between store price override and compare-at price?
The store price override is what you actually sell for online, ignoring the item's sales price. The compare-at price is the higher struck-through figure that shows the saving — it is never charged.
How do scheduled discounts work?
You set the type (percentage or fixed amount), the value, and a start and end time. The discount applies on top of the selling price during that window only, while compare-at stays as the original reference. A preview shows base price, discounted price and the saving.
Where do uploaded images go?
Into Pashkateb. You upload JPG, PNG or WEBP files up to 5MB and they are stored by us — no external links needed. Uploads and deletions stay pending until you press save.
What is the colour gallery for?
It lets you upload several images per colour, shown when a shopper selects that colour. The main gallery is for general images not tied to a particular colour.
