Most Purchased Items report
What you buy most. Compare it with Best Selling Items and you will find your dead stock.
What is this report?
It ranks your items by the quantities you have purchased in a period.
Where to find it
Reports → Purchasing Reports → Most Purchased Items, or /dashboard/reports/most-purchased-items.
Permission: reports:most_purchased_items.
Compare it with Best Selling Items
This is the most valuable way to read it.
Open both side by side:
| You buy | It sells | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| A lot | A lot | ✅ Good buying decision |
| A lot | A little | ❌ You are buying what does not sell |
| A little | A lot | ⚠️ You are losing sales — order more |
| A little | A little | A marginal item |
The second row is the source of dead stock. The third is the source of lost sales.
Useful for negotiation
The items at the top of this list are the first prices to negotiate. A 10% reduction on your highest-volume item saves more than 30% off something you barely buy.
Read it with Stock Evaluation
| Report | Shows you |
|---|---|
| Most Purchased Items | The direction of your decisions — what you buy |
| Stock Evaluation | Their result — what you are holding now |
A routine
Open it quarterly with Best Selling Items. Comparing the two corrects buying decisions more than any other report.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I use it?
Compare it with Best Selling Items. An item you buy a lot of that does not sell much is precisely where your money is stuck.
How does it differ from Stock Evaluation?
Stock Evaluation shows what you are holding now. This shows what you are buying — the direction of your decisions rather than their result.
Is it useful for negotiation?
Yes. The items you buy in the largest quantities are the first prices to negotiate with your supplier.
