Stock Evaluation report: what your money is tied up in
Tells you what your stock is worth at cost. The most important balance-sheet number for most merchants.
What is the Stock Evaluation report?
It tells you what your stock is worth at cost — how much money is currently sitting in your warehouse.
Where to find it
Reports → Inventory Reports → Stock Evaluation, or /dashboard/reports/stock-evaluation.
Permission: reports:stock_evaluation.
How the figure is calculated
For each item:
item value = quantity x valuation rate
And the valuation rate is taken in this order:
- The item's average cost — calculated from submitted purchase invoices.
- If there is none → the purchase price on the item card.
- If neither exists → zero.
This is why purchase prices matter. An item never bought on a submitted invoice is valued at the number you typed by hand — keep it realistic.
When to open it

Reading it
Sort by value descending. Your top ten items usually hold most of your money.
And if a high-value item does not appear in Best Selling Items, that is frozen capital — consider clearing it.
Tips
- Read it alongside Best Selling Items. High value with weak sales means dead stock.
- Draft invoices are excluded. If a figure looks odd, check your drafts.
- Export it at each month end and keep it — it gives you a history of your stock value.

How is the valuation rate decided?
By the item's average cost, falling back to the purchase price on its item card. That is why it matters to check purchase prices before submitting purchase invoices.
The value is lower than expected
Check two things: are there purchase invoices still in draft? Those are excluded. And do many items have no average cost because they were never bought on a submitted invoice? Those are valued at the typed purchase price.
Does the report cover every warehouse?
