Checkout and payment on the online store

Checkout is cash on delivery today. An order creates a draft invoice and reserves stock.

How does checkout work on a Pashkateb store?

A shopper adds products to the cart, enters their details, and confirms the order. The system creates a draft sales invoice and reserves the stock, and the order arrives on your Store Orders screen.

The payment method: cash on delivery

⚠️ Checkout currently records every order as cash on delivery.

There is no online payment gateway for shoppers on the storefront. If a shopper pays another way — a bank transfer or a wallet — that happens between you and them outside the system, and you record it afterwards using Mark as paid on the order.

An important distinction: Pashkateb does have online payment, but it is for paying your own subscription to the platform. That is a completely separate thing from your shoppers paying you.

Say clearly on your FAQ page that payment is on delivery, so shoppers are not surprised.

The cart

Shoppers add, change and remove items, and the cart calculates:

  • Subtotal
  • Total quantity
  • Availability per item — from the store warehouse balance minus reserved quantities

So an item that has sold out or is fully reserved shows as unavailable in the cart before the shopper even reaches checkout.

Shoppers can also apply or remove a promo code on the cart.

Checkout mode

In store settings, the Checkout mode field:

ModeWhat it means
Guest or loginShoppers can buy without an account
Login requiredAn account is needed to complete

Guest or login reduces friction and increases orders — the right choice for most merchants.

What the shopper enters

Name, phone, email, address, shipping method, and optional notes.

The phone is the key — the system uses it to match the customer.

What happens when they confirm

All in one transaction:

  1. Availability is checked — if something has sold out, the order stops.
  2. The customer is found or created — matched on phone or email.
  3. The order number and invoice number are generated.
  4. A promo code is applied if there is one.
  5. A draft sales invoice is created for the whole order.
  6. Quantities are reserved in the store warehouse.
  7. The promo redemption is recorded and the cart cleared.

Stock is reserved, not deducted. It comes off when you click Fulfill order.

Shopper accounts

The store has its own customer accounts, entirely separate from your dashboard users. A shopper can:

  • Register with an email and password.
  • Sign in with Google, with phone verification by OTP.
  • See their previous orders.

They can also track an order by its number without signing in.

Shipping charges

The shipping amount on an order is recorded as zero at present. There is no automatic shipping calculation at checkout.

If you charge for delivery, you have two options:

  1. Build it into your product prices — the simplest approach.
  2. Collect it on delivery and record it as a line on the sales invoice.

Currency

All prices are in Egyptian pounds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the store accept card payments?

No. Storefront checkout currently records every order as cash on delivery. Online payment exists in Pashkateb only for paying your own subscription to the platform — not for your shoppers.

Does a shopper have to create an account to buy?

It depends on the checkout mode in your store settings. Guest or login allows buying without an account. Login required makes every shopper register.

Is the shopper recorded as a customer automatically?

Yes. The system looks for a customer with the same phone or email, and creates one if there is no match. That is why you do not end up with duplicates when the same shopper buys again.

How is shipping calculated?

The shipping amount on an order is recorded as zero at present. If you charge for delivery, build it into your product prices or collect it on delivery and record it on the invoice.
