Profit and Loss report
What you actually earned. But read the note about cost of goods before relying on the number.
What is the Profit and Loss report?
It shows your income less your expenses over a period — what you earned.
An important note about cost
This is the most important point on this page, and it changes how you read the figure.
A Pashkateb sales invoice posts no cost-of-goods-sold entry at the point of sale. Cost is posted when purchase invoices are submitted.
The practical consequence:
| The month | What happens | Reported profit |
|---|---|---|
| Bought a lot, sold little | Cost posted, sales not | Lower than reality |
| Bought little, sold a lot | Sales posted, cost not | Higher than reality |
The fix: read the report over a longer period — a quarter or a year. Over time the difference evens out.
For an accurate monthly read, compare it against the movement in Stock Evaluation: if your stock value grew substantially, part of that "expense" is still goods you are holding.
Where to find it

Profit looks too good?
The most common cause: not all your expenses are recorded.
Small expenses that get postponed disappear, and the result is profit that looks better than it is.
Record expenses as you go on the Outcomes or Expenses Payment screens. Profit that has not deducted all your costs is not profit.
How to read it
| What you see | What it means |
|---|---|
| Income rising, profit flat | Costs are rising just as fast — check the expenses report |
| Good profit, little cash | Your money is in stock or in customer debts |
| A sudden loss | Check for a large one-off expense this month |
Read it after the trial balance
Always start with the trial balance. If it does not balance or its figures are short, Profit and Loss is built on incomplete data.
A routine
Open it at each month end after confirming every invoice is submitted and every expense recorded. Compare with the previous month and the same month last year.
Frequently Asked Questions
The profit looks too good
Usually because not all your expenses are recorded. Record them as you go on the Outcomes and Expenses Payment screens. Profit that has not deducted all your costs is not profit.
Does the report account for cost of goods correctly?
A Pashkateb sales invoice posts no cost entry at the point of sale. Cost is posted when purchase invoices are submitted. So in a month where you bought a lot and sold little, profit looks weak — and the reverse. Read the report over a longer period for a balanced picture.
When should I open it?
At each month end, after confirming the trial balance balances and that all your expenses are recorded.
