Item Purchases During Period report
Your purchases of each item in a set period — for tracking prices and quantities over time.
What is this report?
It shows your purchases of each item within a date range you choose.
Where to find it
Reports → Purchasing Reports → Item Purchases During Period, or /dashboard/reports/item-purchases-period.
Permission: reports:item_purchases_period.
The most useful case: tracking prices
This is what genuinely makes a difference.
Run the report over several consecutive periods for the same item and see how the price moves:
| The price | What it means |
|---|---|
| Steady | A stable supplier |
| Rising steadily | Raise it with the supplier using figures, or find an alternative |
| A sudden jump | Ask why before the next order |
| Falling | Order more while it is down |
And more importantly: that purchase price is what sets your average cost, and therefore your entire margin. An unnoticed rise in a supplier's price eats your profit without you feeling it.
Comparing two periods
- Run the report on the first period and export it.
- Change the dates to the second period and export that.
- Compare the two files in Excel.
The difference from Most Purchased Items
| Most Purchased Items | During Period | |
|---|---|---|
| Focus | Overall ranking | A specific period |
| Used for | What you buy most | Tracking price and quantity over time |

Frequently Asked Questions
How does it differ from Most Purchased Items?
Both show your purchasing, but this is scoped to a period you set — better for comparing two periods, or tracking an item's price over time.
How do I track a supplier's price increases?
Run the report over several consecutive periods for the same item and compare. If the price keeps rising, that is a conversation to have with your supplier, backed by figures.
