Changing your password
A simple three-field screen — but it is the first line of defence around your business data.
How do I change my password?
From the Password tab in your profile, or the standalone Change Password screen.
The fields
| Field | Details |
|---|---|
| Current Password | Confirms it is you |
| New Password | At least 8 characters for a strong password |
| Confirm Password | Must match the new one |
If the confirmation does not match, the system tells you the passwords do not match.
When the system requires a change
On your first sign-in to an account someone else created.
If your company admin created your account and gave you a temporary password, after your first sign-in the system tells you that you need to change it before continuing.
This is deliberate. A temporary password is known to someone else — changing it makes it yours alone.
Forgotten your current password
This screen asks for the current one, so it will not help.
Sign out and use Forgot your password? on the sign-in page — a reset link goes to your registered email.
A strong password
| Do | Do not |
|---|---|
| 8 characters or more | Your own or your company's name |
| Mix letters, numbers and symbols | 123456 or password |
| Use a different password per system | Reuse your email password |
| Use a password manager | Write it on a note on your desk |
When to change it
- You suspect someone has learned it.
- You signed in on a public machine or a computer that is not yours.
- An employee who used the account has left — though that already means the account was shared, which is the real problem.
- It has been the same for a very long time.
Why this matters
Your account holds all of your business data: your invoices, customers, prices, stock and accounts.
And if yours is a company admin account, whoever gets into it can:
- See all your sales and profit.
- Change your stock and your books.
- Add new users.
- Delete data.
A strong password is not a luxury.
A rule that matters more than the password itself
Give every employee their own account.
A shared account means one password known to many people, no record of who did what, and everyone seeing everything. One account per person with an appropriate role is far safer than any complex password on a shared login.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why did the system force me to change my password?
Because it is your first sign-in on an account someone else created. Your company admin knows the temporary password; changing it makes it yours alone.
I have forgotten my current password
Sign out and use Forgot your password? on the sign-in page. A reset link goes to your registered email. This screen asks for the current password, so it will not help.
How long does a password have to be?
The minimum is 6 characters when creating a user, and the system recommends at least 8 for a strong one. Use 8 or more.
How often should I change it?
There is no forced rotation. Change it when you suspect someone has learned it, after signing in from a public machine, or if it has been the same for a very long time.
