Connecting Shopify to Pashkateb
Four fields from your Shopify admin, a connection test, and your orders start arriving as invoices.
How do I connect Shopify to Pashkateb?
From Administration → Integrations, click Connect New Store, choose Shopify, and fill in four details from your Shopify admin. Click Test Connection, then activate the integration and start syncing.
The credentials
| Field | Required? | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Integration name | ✅ | A label you choose for your own organisation |
| Shop domain | ✅ | Your Shopify store address |
| Client ID | ✅ | Your Shopify custom app |
| Client secret | ✅ | The same app |
| Access token | ✅ | The same app |
The system checks all three are present before saving, and tells you exactly which one is missing.
Where to get them
⚠️ This changed recently. Shopify no longer allows new admin-created custom apps — the old "Apps and sales channels → Develop apps" route in your store admin. New apps are created in the Dev Dashboard.
Finding the client ID and client secret
- Open the Shopify Dev Dashboard.
- Click Apps and select your app (or create one).
- Click Settings.
- Your client ID and client secret are under Credentials.
Your client ID is permanent. Your client secret must be kept secure — treat it like a password.
Getting the access token
For an app acting only on stores in your own organisation, the access token is obtained by exchanging the client ID and secret through the client credentials grant. This is a technical step, so if you are not a developer, have whoever set up your Shopify store do it.
The scopes the app needs
Read access to:
read_ordersread_productsread_customers
Pashkateb only reads from Shopify — it never writes back — so read scopes are all that is required.
Shopify's own documentation:
- Manage your app credentials
- About client credentials
- Authenticate an app for stores in your organization
The access token is a secret. Do not share it or put it anywhere public. If it leaks, rotate it in Shopify and update it here.
Test before activating
After saving, click Test Connection. It confirms the credentials work without pulling anything.
If it fails, check:
- The shop domain — is it correct?
- The access token — is it still valid? Tokens expire.
- The app's scopes — does it have read access to orders, products and customers?
The suggested sync order
1. Sync Items Only
Start here. It pulls your Shopify catalog in as Pashkateb items.
Then review the Items screen:
- Did the prices come through correctly?
- Do the groups and brands that were created have sensible names?
- Do the items need opening balances?
The system creates any missing groups and brands automatically and marks them as coming from an integration.
2. Sync Orders & Customers
Once your catalog is reviewed, start pulling orders. Each becomes a sales invoice with its source recorded as Shopify.
You can set a date range to pull only a particular month.
3. Sync Orders & Items
Use this when you have added a lot of new products on Shopify and want both together.
The sync is one-way
⚠️ The integration pulls from Shopify into Pashkateb only.
Pashkateb does not push stock or price updates back to Shopify. So if you sell on both, Shopify balances will not update when you sell in Pashkateb — you will need to reconcile them yourself.
Monitoring
In the list, the integration shows its last sync and its status. If the status is Error, the last error message is recorded so you can see why.
Long syncs show a live progress bar.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where do I get the access token?
From the Shopify Dev Dashboard — Apps, select your app, Settings, then Credentials for the client ID and secret. Shopify no longer allows new admin-created custom apps in the store admin. The access token is then obtained by exchanging those credentials through the client credentials grant.
Do I have to sync products before orders?
Not required, but recommended. Pulling products first lets you review the items and correct their prices and stock before orders start moving against them.
Does stock sync both ways?
No. The integration pulls from Shopify into Pashkateb. Pashkateb does not push stock updates back to Shopify, so if you sell on both you will need to reconcile balances yourself.
The connection failed — what now?
Check in order: is the shop domain correct? Is the access token still valid and not expired? Does the app have the required read scopes? After changing anything, click Test Connection again.
