Automatic postings: what gets posted for you
Most of your bookkeeping happens by itself. What matters is knowing what posts and what does not.
What does Pashkateb post for you?
Most of your day-to-day bookkeeping. Submitting invoices, recording payments and running stock adjustments all post balanced entries automatically.

What is not posted
| Operation | Why |
|---|---|
| Warehouse transfers | Not a valuation event — total quantity is unchanged |
| Draft invoices | A draft has no effect at all |
| Cost of goods sold at the point of sale | A sales invoice does not touch inventory accounts |
An important note: no cost entry on a sale
A Pashkateb sales invoice posts no cost-of-goods-sold entry.
The consequence is that margin is not visible from the sales postings alone. Inventory accounts in the ledger are affected by:
- Purchase invoices — which post cost.
- Stock adjustments — which post differences.
To understand your profit, use the sales and cost reports together rather than looking for it in the sales postings.
When an entry is not created
This is the most important part of this page.
If a required account is missing from your chart of accounts — Accounts Receivable, Sales, Accounts Payable or Cost of Goods Sold — the system:
- ✅ Completes the invoice submission.
- ✅ Moves stock.
- ❌ Skips the entry and logs that it did.
That is deliberate, so an accounting setup problem does not halt your daily work. But it means your books go incomplete without anything stopping you.
How to spot it
- Open the trial balance. Figures much lower than expected usually mean invoices were submitted without entries.
- Compare the sales report against the general ledger. If reported sales exceed the Sales account, that is your gap.
How to fix it
- Open Finance → Accounts and add the missing accounts.
- For invoices already submitted without entries, post manual journal entries to cover them.
- Check the trial balance again.
Set your chart of accounts up before real work begins — it is far easier than making it good afterwards.
Entries are always balanced
Every automatic entry is checked before saving: total debits must equal total credits. An unbalanced entry is not saved at all, rather than a broken entry being recorded.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why did an invoice submit with no journal entry?
A required account is missing from your chart of accounts. The system completes the submission and moves stock but quietly skips the entry. Fix the chart of accounts, then post manual entries to cover the earlier invoices.
Why is there no cost of goods sold in the sales postings?
Because a Pashkateb sales invoice posts no cost entry. Inventory accounts are affected by purchase invoices and stock adjustments only. Which means margin is not visible from sales postings alone.
Does a warehouse transfer post an entry?
No. A transfer is not a valuation event — the goods still belong to the same company at the same value, they have only moved. The total quantity is unchanged, so there is nothing to post.
Can I edit an automatic entry?
The entry is linked to the document that created it. It is safer to address the document itself — with a return invoice, for example — rather than editing the entry, so the document and the entry stay consistent.
